[After a few days of settling in, Karkat will finally choose a house that approximates the location of his old house in Benny Lane relative to the rest of the town. It's kind of a crappy place; there are at least completed rooms, but it's still crawling with insects and has a dusty, stale smell inside.

But he doesn't really mind sleeping on the floor for now while he gets set up. Instead, he's used the few powers he has to decorate the exterior of the house to look more like an Alternian hive, complete with Alternian language on the mailbox spelling out his name. It's more than vanity; he hopes it will draw any and all trolls that happen to show up to seek him out.]

[He's standing outside City Hall, nailing some papers to the wall.]

PRIORITIES:
1. CLEAN WATER (LET'S NOT EVEN TALK ABOUT PLUMBING, THAT WOULD BE SO GREAT)
2. RELIABLE FOOD SUPPLY, BECAUSE PICKING SHIT OFF TREES IS ONLY GOING TO SUSTAIN US FOR SO LONG WITHOUT A PLAN.
3. SHELTER, BY WHICH I MEAN WALLS ON ALL OF THE HOUSES AND THE ABSOLUTE BASICS AS FAR AS FURNITURE GOES, RECREATION BLOCK SETS MEANT FOR YOUR FRIENDS TO REST DRINKS ON DURING A PARTY ARE NOT IMPORTANT RIGHT NOW.
4. MEDICAL SUPPLIES AND BASIC HYGIENE.
5. WORKING ELECTRICITY.
6. AT SOME POINT WHEN THE REST IS TAKEN CARE OF, WHATEVER DUMB THINGS YOU WANT. UNTIL THEN, IF YOU HAVE SPECIAL TOWN SHAPING POWERS AND ARE NOT USING THEM FOR THESE PURPOSES, YOU ARE OFFICIALLY AN ASSHOLE.

LET'S DISCUSS OUR PLANS FOR ANY OF THE ABOVE.

Boney discreetly stands on two legs and hides behind Lucas with his paws around his waist. This plan is foolproof.]

This is all I wanted, you know? I don't ask for much. I could have been okay in Mayfield, too, if all of us were there, no matter what they did to us.

As long as the rest of them keep coming back, I have absolutely no complaints, or even the capacity to have the slightest problem with any of this.

I thought you would say something like that. You and your friends always wanted to find a place where you could find peace... I don't think this could have turned out any better for you - or for any of us, really.

I wanted to go home, of course, but I was always afraid, too, of leaving behind the people here. But now... if there's a real Lucas back home, I guess I'll just have to trust that he'll take care of my family and friends for me.

[Gamzee wanders out of the machine in the morning and promptly gets himself horrendeously lost. Everything looks weird and different okay, and even with his admittedly spotty memory, he's pretty sure things are not where they used to be around here.

Because of this, and because he also wasted a few hours staring at his hands in awe when he figured our how to summon Faygo miracouslt, it's midafternoon when he finally manages to stumble across Karkat's give. He stares at it for a few confused minutes before shrugging and knocking on the door.]

Clean water, at least providing it in something like water bottles shouldn't be too hard. Plumbing might take a little while even with people using their powers in tandem to make it. Not a long while, but possibly a couple weeks and making sure some idiot doesn't somehow mess some system up. Same with the houses, but we can work on the houses just about the same time as the plumbing.

Electricity might oddly enough be one of the easier things to set up with, considering all the tech heads here, let alone the creation powers.

It'll just depend on people actually using them to do this crap, instead of just going on doing what they want.

[Says the boy who abused his powers already to give himself a sweet trenchcoat.]

It seems like at least some of the buildings have plumbing and electric wiring built in. It's just a matter of building what we need to get it working. Also, the pond is not big enough to source all of our needs, especially if we have to grow our own food. We should see about exploring, maybe building ourselves a reservoir somewhere outside of town, but that can be a long term plan while, for now, we just conserve water and make sure the pond doesn't get too low.

I'm not as concerned with electricity, but if it gets any colder than this we'll need it. There's a generator somewhere around I've seen; it needs repairs, and we need to duplicate it.

I have medical supplies. Probably not enough for everyone, though.

That's basically all we need for now. Not everyone will get sick or hurt at once.

Yeah. But if something happens and too many people get sick or injured because of it, one little medical kit with too few supplies won't cut it.

Not everyone is going to necessarily want or need a full single family house. In some cases it might help to pool resources to generate smaller flats instead.

[ Ilsa smiles as she reads over his shoulder. She is smiling more often, these days. Still, she has enough sense to wait until Karkat is finished with his task before speaking. ]

Good organization here. That first problem was my first question, too. I'm working on rainwater collection and a water purification unit at the diner. Finally got it assembled yesterday, but I'll need to test it on purifying what's here before we start having fill ups. Still, it's only meant to be a back-up for a city treatment plant.

I should be able to start serving at least one meal a day at the diner when it's running properly.
