[He shakes his head emphatically.]

It was because of all of us working together that we were able to escape. I have to thank you, too, Yuna. ...And for taking Rin back from that circus, too.

[Boney sniffs at Yuna's hand slowly and thoroughly. ...Then promptly proceeds to give it a slow lick.]

[Yuna blushes a bit, scratching at her cheek with her free hand.]

Rin's one of my best friends! There's no way I was gonna just leave her in there.

[She flashes a grin and a thumbs up.]

[Boney finishes slathering Yuna's hand in saliva before he returns to panting and staring at nothing in particular. Dogs were strange.]

Oh, really? You don't come from her world, too, do you?

[Yuna laughs a bit before wiping her hand off on the grass.]

No, I met her here... we hit it off pretty well, though!

[Wait, that sounds a little weird. But she is here to wish the two of them luck, so...]

Mm... so anyway! I, uh...

[Geez. Could that have been any worse of a lead-in?]

...I actually kind of used to like her. But it's okay! Everything worked out - Rin and I are still best friends, and I've got a girlfriend now and everything's going pretty good for us.

[Yuna, you're rambling, cut it out. She sighs a little in frustration before shaking her head and smiling back at Lucas.]

I just wanted to congratulate you two. I told her, but I wanted to come here and tell you too. Rin's a really great girl, and you guys are cute together, so I wish you the best. Really.

[She nods, hoping to underscore her sincerity. This was awkward enough, but she really does just want to be friends, and hopes that sentiment gets through.]

Oh gosh. I... I had no idea.

[Lucas feels bad now, for sure. His expression is a commingle of surprise and guilt.]

So when I was... -- and she and I... -- Oh, I'm really sorry, Yuna. I... would have talked to you about it if I had known.

[Yuna frowns a little at the sight of Lucas' expression, but she shakes her head.]

No... really! It's totally okay. I didn't want to be pushy or anything, and losing Rin as a friend is the last thing I would've wanted to happen no matter what came out of all of this.

[She smiles again, looking more than a little embarrassed.]

I was actually hoping we could all get to be friends, especially now that we're all here in the new town together.

Ah, of course...! I'd like that. I'm just... sorry I didn't realize it before. I'm usually pretty good about understanding people, but I guess this isn't something I'm very familiar with...

[Lucas blushes slightly.]

Um. I care about Rin... a lot. So... I promise I'll do everything I can to make her happy.

It's okay, I'm not that good with it either. I never even had a boyfriend or anything before coming to Mayfield, so I didn't really know how to deal with it at first.

[Yuna nods, her posture relaxing now that everything's smoothed over.]

Yeah, I know. Like I said, you guys seem like a pretty good match. And Rin's been smiling a lot more lately, so it looks like you're already doing a good job!

[Lucas is a bit too awkward about all of this to discuss his feelings any more in-depth. He settles for a shy smile instead as he turns away.]

Do you mind if I ask who you've found, Yuna? Your girlfriend, I mean.

Actually, her name's Rin too. Rin Natsuki. Do you know her?

Um... No, I don't think we've ever met. ...But she must be lucky to have found someone like you.

Ahaha... you think so? It actually took me kind of by surprise, to tell you the truth.

Why? You were nice enough to come and say these things even if we don't know each other well, so... I think you must be a really great person to know.

[Yuna grins, putting her hand out for a shake. This is really what she came here for - after all the animosity in Mayfield and all the bad feelings, she really just wants to get along with as many people as she can now. She might have been jealous of Lucas once, but she's putting that all to rest here and now.]

[He hadn't known they weren't friends yet. Lucas nods quickly with a shy smile before he takes the hand.]

[She laughs a little, shaking his hand eagerly.]

[He shakes as well, though his gentle touch is somewhat overwhelmed by her vigorous grasp.]
