[He considers ignoring that tug, but after a moment he relents and looks down at Czes. He sighs.]

And you're doin' that because..?

You don't hafta do it to me. Go find somebody else.

And who else am I gonna find in a place like this?

[foundafamily]

That's your problem, not mine.

And I'm solving the problem, aren't I?

But then you're makin' problems for me!

[He nearly laughs at that, but manages to turn it into a scoff.]

Sometimes I do think you'll be the death a' me. Like now.

Now that's just silly. Aren't you immortal, Firo?

[cursedtolive]

Uh-huh. [he's just laughing now.]

[foundafamily]

[He glares at Czes, but, realizing it probably won't have effect, turns away and shakes his head.]

Think we're done here?

[cursedtolive]

Yeah. [He's still snickering.] I think so. Did you get everything you needed?

[foundafamily]

Yeah, I think so...

[He pretends to ignore that snickering and turns for the door.

...Only to whirl around again and try to snap a picture of Czes with the camera he snagged earlier.]

[... Firo.

You underestimate Czes' fight or flight instincts. The moment he catches even a glimpse of Firo turning, his brain immediately screams danger and he dives for the nearest escape, disappearing behind a bunch of shelves!!]

[foundafamily]

[Whoops. Firo blinks, startled by that reaction.]

H-huh? Czes? C'mon, a picture's not gonna kill you!

[He sets the camera down on the shelf beside him and moves closer to peek around the corner of the shelf Czes darted behind.]

[He makes a startled sound, and Czes is cowering behind one of the shelves, staring at Firo with side frightened eyes. He almost yells at him to go away, but the panic recedes before he actually lashes out.]

Ah...

... S-sorry.

[foundafamily]

[Aw, man, the kid looks really distraught. Firo can't get mad at Czes for this--but he can certainly get mad at himself. He shakes his head and holds his hands up, as if in surrender.]

...No, I'm sorry. Didn't think that'd scare you so much.

[cursedtolive]

[He shakes his head, still not coming out of his corner but looking at Firo, at least.]

It was just that you moved really suddenly. I'm used to running away...

[foundafamily]

[Firo stares at Czes a moment, wondering why the kid's still hiding. He takes a step back to see if that'll encourage him to move. He frowns.]

...Well, you don't hafta run from me.

[He winces, recalling that time Czes really should have run. It feels like forever ago, back when they were still in the original Mayfield, but he knows it's not so distant as to be forgotten.]

I know, I know.

[He laughs, nervously, and pushes himself out of his hiding spot, straightening his clothes.]

Don't worry about it! It's just... old habits.

[foundafamily]

[As Czes leaves the hiding spot, Firo takes another step back to give him some space.]

...Are you sure?

[cursedtolive]

Completely sure! Im just a little jumpy. A little jumpy, that's all!

[foundafamily]

[That's all he's going to get, isn't he? Firo bites his lip and wonders if it's all right to leave it at that.]

...Well, if there's anything I can do to make you less jumpy, just say so.

[He turns for the exit, but glances over his shoulder to make sure Czes is coming.]
