[Didn't Czes have that when they were being controlled? Firo had assumed it was something he'd been forced to pick up.]

You wanna learn how to fight with a real knife? I could teach you.

It's a precaution... but I guess, learning won't be a bad idea.

I'm pretty sure you could do damage with that, but sometimes it's safer to stick to something that's actually made for fightin'. It's less likely you'll hurt yourself.

He smiles.]

[Czes would honestly be perfectly happy if only Claire could slip and fall on his butt.]

Uuuum... how about this weekend? We'll probably be all moved in by then, right?

[foundafamily]

Yeah, that sounds good to me.

[He taps his chin thoughtfully as he starts to try and count the days. He pauses, then laughs.]

...By any chance, do you know what day today is?

[How could he remember the day of the week in the chaos of the past few days?]

... Mon... day?

I think it's Monday?

[December third is a Monday at least!]

[He laughs.]

All right, we'll say it's Monday. I can't imagine anyone else's been keepin' track with everything that happened. ...Though I guess if we all want things to get anywhere close to normal again, we'll hafta sort out little things like that.

Someone will probably take charge and decide, if we can get all these different people to agree on a common calendar. Or, we might find something in this town that'll tell us how the days work.

You think there'd be somethin' just lyin' around?

[He shrugs; they'll cross that bridge when they come to it. What bothers him more now is something else Czes brought up.]

...Somebody is gonna try and take control eventually, huh? Of everything, I mean.

Probably won't be able to. But someone'll try to be a leader or something here. It might be a good one who tries to keep things running smoothly, or a tyrant.

[foundafamily]

I wish I could hope it wouldn't be the tyrant, but...

[Firo doesn't have enough faith in humanity to say that there won't be people seeking power for themselves, or even okay people who become corrupted.]

Eh, I guess you're right. Unless they've got a whole gang of cronies with 'em, it'd be hard to boss the people here around.

[Considering what they've had to put up with for so long.]

Uh-huh. I don't think it's going to happen because I don't remember anyone having a group of followers like that, you know? Besides, everyone's so sick of being controlled that there's no way anybody's going to stand for it.

Exactly. If there's one thing everybody can agree on, it's that.

[It's so hard to believe that they're finally done with it. Or are they?]

At least I'd hope.

If there are people who don't care, then the people who do care will probably go fight them!

[He laughs.]

You can probably bet on that. But you know, everybody's probably wiped out from all that... so maybe for a little while we'll catch a break. If you could call this a break.

[He doesn't feel rested at all.

As they're walking he spots a building that looks more like a store than anything residential, sporting a large window where presumably goods would be displayed. It appears to be empty, though.]

Hey, look at that place.

I could go without a hassle like that for the next five years, honestly.

[He follows Firo's gaze to to the store. It does seem empty and even if it was stocked, it looks unlikely to have anyone working there, but it's better than nothing.]

Let's check it out!

Doesn't look like there'll be much in there... but let's see what we can find.

[He nods and quickens his pace. When they get there, he opens the door and pokes his head in. It's dark inside and it's hard for Firo to make out the details of the many objects strewn about on the floor.]

What if we find a body in here or something.

[maybe half joking]

From-from what?

[He hopes Czes is joking, but with the thought now put into his head he's nervous.]

What if they're bodies from experiments.

[His nervousness comes out in his voice as agitation.]

Who the hell would be doin' experiments out here? The place looked practically abandoned!

[Which makes it all the better for doing terrible experiments...]

Firo, if you were doing something bad would you do it right in the middle of Broadway or Main Street?

[foundafamily]

Well, no... But that's still really unlikely! For all we know, nobody's been here before us except for whatever built the place!

[As he's taking a step farther in the floorboard creaks. In spite of himself, he freezes.]

So whatever built this place could still be here, right?

[Czes reaches out and tugs on Firo's pant leg, stepping in front of him.]
