He holds out his hand to Czes, pouting.]

I'm sorry, I'll stop. Let's go check out the house, okay?

[He glares at him for a few seconds before he huffs, then grumbles.]

... Okay. [He will take that hand.]

Good.

[When they get to the house, he smiles at Czes.]

You wanna open the door?

[cursedtolive]

Sure, I'll do it. [He steps forward to turn the knob. He thinks they might want to find a lock for it sometime but for now he smiles as he pushes the door open!]

[Firo follows Czes into the house and immediately starts looking around for the fireplace. It was Czes's priority, after all.]

Huh. What do you think?

[Like all the other houses, it needs some touching up, but Firo's not too concerned.]

[Czes finds the fireplace before anything else and stares at it, satisfied.]

I like it. [He grins.] Do you like it?

Well...

[His first impulse is to compare it to "home," and he does. Of course it comes up short, but he swallows his complaints. This is as good as it'll get, and if Czes likes it, then he will too.]

It's nice. I like it.

[He smiles.]

Was there anything else you wanted besides a fireplace?

Not really. I just thought that sort of thing would be nice, but I'm not really that picky. [If there is somewhere permanent to stay, it would be better than nothing for him.]

What about you?

It's got the fireplace, and it doesn't look like it'll fall down around us, so I'd say it's good.

[Still, there must be a catch somewhere.]

Let's look around the other rooms. Just to... Just to see.

[He doesn't want to outright say it, but he wants to make sure there aren't any murderers or monsters hiding.]

... Okay. [He'll go back to Firo and stand next to him, slightly behind him as if to say "you go first." Because clearly the older person must go first, right? Firo can react faster than him anyway!

(But really it's because once they make sure there really is nothing he's going to wait until Firo's got his back turned to him before yelling. Best plan.)]

[Firo tries to give Czes a comforting smile and pats his shoulder. He has a hand near his knife as he enters the next room and looks around.]

Doesn't look like there's anything here...

You sure? I hope there's nothin' hiding in the closet when we go to open it...

[He peers around Firo into the room, then spins around to look into the one next to it.]

If it makes you feel better, I'll open it first.

[Satisfied that this room looks fine, he moves into the other one.]

I'm surprised there aren't any traps or anything yet.

Maybe they're just waiting for us to lower our guards... [He follows, but pauses for a second and then slips away to hide in the first room when Firo isn't paying attention.]

Yeah, that does sound like somethin' they'd do.

[He's so busy checking the room that he doesn't notice Czes leaving until he turns around a few minutes later.]

This one looks fine-

[Oh no. Could this be the trap they were just talking about?]

Czes? Were'd you go?

[cursedtolive]

[He doesn't respond, and he doesn't move either. He doesn't want to step on a creak floorboard he didn't notice earlier and give away his hiding spot. But he reaches out quietly and nudges the door gently, making it move very slowly.]

Czes? Czes!

[Firo casts a frantic look around the room he's in. Empty. He dashes back into the room he had just left. All the terrible things that could be happening to Czes run through his head; maybe the zombies are back, maybe it's the cannibals, maybe it was a trap, maybe he just vanished...]

Czes, are you there?

[He waits until Firo's right at the door before leaping forward, with a "raaaaaah"]

Ah-!

[Firo jumps back to face his "attacker," knife at the ready. If it's what took Czes, then no mercy!

...Oh, wait. He blinks, stunned.]

Czes? What the hell are you doin'!?

I was playing. There's nothing here. [He holds up his hands in defense. Watch it with the sharp things there!]

[He lowers his knife and steps back. Since there's no danger he should calm down, he knows, but he feels anger mixing in with his relief. His knuckles turn white as he grips the knife hilt.]

What the hell made you think that was a good idea? I-I was-!

[Worried.]

Well... we already saw that the house wasn't dangerous.

How am I supposed to know for sure it'd not dangerous if you just disappear?

I would know because I'm the one hiding, and if it gets really dangerous I would've come running out!

... Sorry, though.

[Poised on the edge of explosion, Firo glares at Czes, inhaling shakily through clenched teeth. At the apology, he blinks and the tension in his shoulders relaxes. He puts his knife away.]

...No, it's fine. I shouldn't have gotten so worked up. This place just... you know.

[He disintegrates into a bundle of nerves much more easily after so many months in Mayfield.]
