[Kariya may be one of the newly-minted masters of this new town, but he doesn't seem to be very interested in immediately conjuring hundreds of things into existence. He's had quite enough of magic for one lifetime, quite honestly. And while his body is still ravaged from the Crest Worms, he scarcely seems to notice the scars and the limp - his body seems lighter and freer than ever as he strolls through the fledgeling town.]

Hmm... better find a nice house. Rin won't accept anything but the best.

You are right about that much. [ A voice carries to Kariya, a whisper amplified by armor vox-emitters, coming from behind a half built house. It would seem someone is unwilling to meet others face to face, at least for a time. ]

[Says the small redhead working on de-weeding a nearby garden.]

[Up on a hill next to the town, Jecht is lying down on the grass, relaxing. He seems much calmer and far less angry than he was the last time he was in Mayfield, especially to those who knew him personally. It's actually rare to see him taking it this easy, but the man seems to be honestly enjoying himself for a change.]

Heh... who'da thought the afterlife would look like this.

[He'll be joined by a familiar face, who sits next to Jecht, a gentle smile on his face.]

[Ruri was going through one of the houses, changing it slightly, looking somewhat down as she did so and trying to integrate everything that was her home previously into it.]

"Well, its not the real Nadesico, but its something."

[And on the street in front of that house, one boy is wandering around looking for a certain someone. With no other good ideas, he's taken to the old fashioned way of searching]

[Outside of town, on a hill looking over it Booster mused with Skeets floating over his shoulder.]

"You know, this whole copy thing isn't so bad, I mean there were how many Earths? This is just another one, and its one that some people who are gone can be at so that's something. I guess."

[Carrie is a little awestruck right now. On top of her own powers, she can feel one there that she'd never had before. The ability to create. But mostly it's the knowledge that she doesn't have to go back. Not home, not to Mayfield. Not to Them.]

[For the first time, in a very long time, Carrie smiles widely.]

[And goes off to explore her new home.]

[And that's what Sora likes to see. Carrie seems to smiling genuinely for once. Not that she should have before. But hey he shouldn't pry right? In any case he's found her off on her own exploring.]

[Creating isn't something he's really good at. Destruction being more his ability. However after wandering around for a while, keeping an eye out for some people, he makes his way to a vacant house and walks inside.]

[Lemony Snicket couldn't tell you what was going on. He didn't know himself at the moment. There was a new town, he head people talking about something like copies. However he knows one thing.

When in doubt, head towards the library. So he does. And he finds....

[Lemony will be in the library, taking an inventory of books if there isn't one, and just getting the place organized.]

It's quite the lovely change, isn't it? An ideal adjustment.

[ Keine is browsing through the bookshelves as well. She's been experimenting with the blank books on the upper floor and filling them with historical accounts from her home world. ]

Finally, we may all find a proper education and entertainment in the same place.

The Park

[Here is a Zidane who is looking more cheerful today. In fact, he is sitting on the grass in the park, intently reading a book. You can see it has a rather bizarre title on the front - 'I Want To Be Your Canary'. If you're nosy enough to peek over his shoulder, you will find that it's a script for some sort of play]

[ Rika walks up behind him and looks over his shoulder. Her hands behind her back, calmly rocking back and forth on her heels. ]

Your first mission in our new home is to read a book, Zidane?

[Well now what? Theo has no idea. What does a copy of a man who had gone off the deep end and got himself intentionally killed do with himself? He had been done with living. He had been done with Mayfield. But now he's stuck here, without a clue in the world of what do with it.

None of his materials were here. None of his books. None of his notes. If he were to pursue magic again, he'd have no research to base it off of.

So, for now, he'll stick to what he does best besides magic, and that's feel sorry for himself. He's seated on a curb, smoking, with a fat cat perched next to him.]

Wonder if anyone's made a place to get a drink yet.

[Firo can't just relax, even with the promise of a better place. There's always a catch, especially in Mayfield, and he's afraid to hope that this place will be different.

He patrols the perimeter of the new town, searching for whatever Mrs. Johnson or whoever's in control left behind to do them harm. He becomes increasingly baffled as his search turns up empty.]

[He's not the only one with this idea. But Barton is part patrolling and part exploring. Her wanderlusts finally gets some indulgences after two years trapped in the same town.]

[ Okay, so that whole being a copy shit? It's a little weird and Badou's not quite sure how he feels about this. Huge fucking revelations have that effect on the chainsmoker.

So fuck that existential bullshit for now. He's here for metaphorically forever so might as well make the best of it.

Instead, the lanky redhead is at the general store trying to see what's around. He's also managed to procure cigarettes and he puffs on one like he hasn't smoked in ages. He talks to no one in particular as he cases the joint. ]

Well, fuck. Gotta start from scratch then, huh. [ He has yet to notice the basement entrance. ]

[Hajime's not used to being called upon to be a creator rather than a destroyer. Between that and the feeling like the absolute worst of the fighting he'll do in his life is far behind him, he's a bit of a loss as to what he should do next.

Like now. He's looking at houses. He's not even sure he wants one; living in the basement of a restaurant was good enough back home. It could be good enough here. He could bring the place back...or he could try something new. For now, he's poking around a clearly unfinished house that could use a new wall or two.]

[One moment he's alone while inspecting that half finished house, and the next, there's Natalie, draped on a folding chair that had been abandoned in the not-quite-as-unfinished front room. She's smiling at him, curious and bemused.]

Checking out the real estate?

[Folding chairs of that size really weren't meant for draping on. It's kind of awkward. But she's giving off an air of tiredness, the sort that just calls for slouching around all cool-like.]

The Park

[This can be the work of only one pony.

A small part of the park has been festooned with streamers and balloons. There's also a large banner with a hoof-painted message saying "WELCOME HOME" stretched out between two trees. Pinkie is wasting no time in throwing this new place its first party.]

[Momo had never ever seen this kind of dedication level to parties before. But he supposed it was a good thing someone was lifting their spirits.]

Yo! Seems like quite the shindig you've come up with.

Streets

[At the edge of town and facing the direction of Mayfield, Slugger sits upon a heap of rubble in the middle of an unfinished street. He can no longer see the place he came to call home but he knows it's out there beyond what his eyes can see, and it won't be long before it fades from existence.

However, the memories of that place, both good and bad, remain captured in the open notebook he holds on his lap. He'd managed to grab a few precious things from that place before leaving: his notebook and a few gifts he stuffed into a backpack. Presently, he finishes the final entry in his Mayfield notebook with just two more words, then closes it.]

I'm home.

[Though the words are spoken to nothing but empty space, they are directed at someone. He hopes she will still hear him.]

Goodbye, Annie. Thanks.

[For a while longer, Slugger gazes quietly into the distance and into the past before, finally, he stands and turns toward a new future and his new home - the home he'd always wanted.]

[After his own little stunt, Pokey had begun seeking out the people he cared about. His friends. His, admittedly, makeshift family in the town. But they were still his. And that feels so good, so wonderful to have.

Especially to have a best friend. Pokey can't help but smirk as he walks over to his friend, the tail of his new trenchcoat trailing across the ground.]

[It's strange, but this feels so familiar. She remembers being able to change her own domain like this, as part of the greater concept.

Right now she's walking around. Looking for people she knows. And maybe for the right place to settle in.]

[t had been rather difficult for Dist to accept that this place would be what he would have to call home from now on... but there was a certain comfort in being able to build what he wanted. His original self would remain in his normal, unhappy state, but construct or not, this Dist wants to live. Losing everything he'd gained just because it was fake was too much to bear.

For now, Dist can be found testing the limits of his newfound "powers" on a house at the top of the hill. The garden is already full of selenias and there's an arch above the door with a clinging rose vine, but the house itself is proving more of a challenge. Still, when has he given up before? There'll be a grand house party when this is all done.]

[Curiosity was a better choice than having an existential sulking fit in a basement somewhere... especially in a town with as many strange, wonderful people as this one. People seemed to be making things happen already. Just small ones, but still, they could catch the eye. Or the nose.

She smelled the flowers a moment before she saw them. And then she saw who was tending to them. Oh. Oh.]

[Natalie has... probably looked better. She hasn't gotten around to changing clothes since the mad dash out of town, and there is a ragged hole in her blouse right around where her heart ought to be, bloodstained at the edges. Scarred skin is showing through it. Her eyeliner has run and her hair is jutting out at odd angles. What the fuck, man. But she doesn't seem to care that she looks frightful.]

[There's a lilt of happiness in her tone.]

[Ukraine is outside a house that she and Hajime have picked out. It still needs to be fixed up a lot but she focuses her powers on the lawn.

And there is suddenly a small field of sunflowers there.]

Park

[Although much of the initial shock of learning that she is only a copy is gone, and others have somewhat helped her come to terms with it, Clover still can't quite get it out of her mind. That, and knowing that she will never be home.

Or that she in particular wouldn't belong there anyway.

That said, there is one thing that makes her feel better, all on its town:

The fauna here? Not drones. Finally.

Clover is sitting on a bench, enjoying the feeling of, once again, hearing birds chattering about things that aren't how lovely the town is or literally "chirp chirp chirp."]

[ Satou is almost done ripping apart her diary. She's been tossing the same paper airplane around all day, following a routine where she chases it, grabs it, throws it again, and sees where it'll take her. Poor piece of paper is looking pretty beat-up at this point, but at least Satou is happy? ]

[ She's been in a bit of a daze since hearing the news. The news that the people back home she loves and longs to be acknowledged by do exist, but know a different Satou. Realizing that the mother she wants to impress can never be impressed by anything she does. That the friend she wants to protect can never be protected by her hands. That her precious little sister Masume will never ever be with her again, no matter how much she cries.

But now she's standing outside of one of the empty houses. Confused by the fact her feet brought her here, holding a diary to her chest. She opens her diary to doodles and letters to her friends, with the flowers she kept as memories of them pressed between the pages. A blue flower like Touka wears in her hair, a golden yellow flower like Shugo's eyes, something purple that reminds her of Mikale, pink roses for Masume... Satou stares at them, feeling ready to cry.

Then flips the diary upside-down, letting the pressed flowers fall out and blow away. It takes her a second to realize what she's just done. She watches them blow away, aware of how badly she wants to scream and cry and chase after them, before turning to the empty house. Her house. And, in an attempt to remind herself that she's living there now, she uses some of her new powers to make a cherry blossom tree grow on the lawn. Then walks inside to try to clean her new home.

Between little chores she is doing to maintain the house, you might catch her ripping pages out of her diary and folding them into paper airplanes. Quick, this is your chance to catch some blackmail material. ]

[ Eventually someone stumbles back into this house, mostly by chance. And the tree in the front yard.

She yawns, and massages her temples. What a wicked headache. ]

[Sarah Jane is looking around for a place to live. Building a life for herself. She's done that before.

Though the fact that she doesn't need that much space does nag at her.]

[Walking around this new city should seem rather odd. Especially odd would be the smell of cooked seafood waftign through the air.

Follow the smell and you'll find Mart Vineyard behind a small wooden booth with a chef's hat and a couple of plates in fornt of him featuring some lobster based foods.]

[How much time had Dakki spent in the Mayfield park, practicing her skills and play-fighting with friends? She was excited to see that this place seemed to have some park-space, too. And a bit less excited to see the state that it was in. It needed work... And though she wasn't averse to work, she was no gardener.

Ah, well. A new thing to learn, while here. And for now, it's sort of fun to go tromping through the overgrown grass. Though eventually she finds her way to the slightly-scummy lake, and after flattening herself down a spot, takes a seat upon the shore.

This place was nice. An unpolished gem that could be made into something shiny and beautiful with some work. But it still hurt, to know that she could never go back to the Gurhal system. It was a kind of pain she had worked through before, having already been pulled away from one home and given another... a mourning for the things and people she would never see again. And so she felt a softer sadness rather than the devastating ache of learning that she could never go back to Ragol or Pioneer 2.

She'd go and find her friends and make beautiful plans and smile happy smiles later. In a bit. After a little more time to listen to the rippling of the water and the blowing of the wind. After a little more time to simply be, after such a tense period of having to do without reprieve.]

[Gen is enjoying a nice brisk run through the town, trying to work off the pains of the last few days. He's still quite bandaged up, but he's feeling great.

So Dakki'll get a huge smile and wave as he spots her.]

[Their new living room is the closets thing Lily can manage to what she remembers their common room looks like--for someone who can't see what she's recreating. For a final touch, she adds another splash of red to the banner hanging over one of the walls.

She's tripped on enough chairs and tables to leave a mess in her wake, however.]
